Mohamed MANSSOURI

Director, CFI / FAO

Mohamed Manssouri is Director of the FAO Investment Centre, which supports public and private investments in food systems and agriculture in partnership with International Financing Institutions (World Bank, International Fund for Agricultural Development, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, African Development Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, etc.) and other investors. 

He is an agricultural economist and an expert in agricultural and rural development, food security and poverty reduction. From 2014 until he was appointed Director, Mohamed was Service Chief of the Europe, Central Asia, North Africa, Near East, Latin America and the Caribbean Service. 

Prior to joining FAO, he was country programme manager with IFAD, where he led the development and management of various country investment strategies and programmes and several regional strategies and programmes in rural finance, community-driven development, conservation agriculture and policy development and dialogue. He also served on the multi-agency team that prepared the Comprehensive Framework for Action in response to the 2007/2008 food crisis, in the framework of the United Nations High-Level Task Force on the Global Food Security Crisis, chaired by the UN Secretary-General.

He also performed as a trainer in agricultural economics and gave lectures for the master’s on Human Development and Food Security of the University of Roma Tre. 

Mohamed holds a master’s degree from AgroParisTech, Paris, France.
