Senior Manager, Sustainable Finance, Financial Institutions Group / IFC

Laila Nordine is the Senior Manager, Sustainable Finance, Financial Institutions Group, IFC. In this role, Laila oversees the FIG Climate and Gender finance teams globally. These include Investment and Advisory focused Climate and Gender Specialists as well as global Investment officers leading lending and equity investments in sustainable finance projects with Global financial Institutions. Ms. Nordine has over 25 years of leadership, strategic and technical experience in Capital markets and Private Capital Mobilization in IFC and the World Bank. She most recently served as a Senior Advisor and Head of the Private Capital Facilitation secretariat in OPCS, World Bank. Before moving to the World Bank, Laila served between 2016 and 2021 as Senior Advisor to IFC CEO where she advised IFC CEO on Investment Operations, Innovation and Strategic initiatives. During this time, she most notably co-led the IFC historical $5.5bn Capital Increase negotiations and the revamp of IFC’s approach to Equity investing. Ms. Nordine joined IFC in 2003 in the Structured Finance Group where she was the Head of Structuring between 2007 and 2012 and led the structuring and execution of many landmark capital markets transactions with global, regional and domestic financial institutions. Between 2012 and 2016, she served as a Chief Investment Officer focusing on debt and equity investments in the sustainable Agri Commodities Supply Chains and Trading. Prior to joining IFC, Ms. Nordine held different investment banking positions within BNP Paribas in London and Paris covering Credit derivatives, Capital management solutions and Weather derivatives. Ms. Nordine holds an Engineering degree from Ecole Polytechnique in France and a Master equivalent degree in Economics and Finance from ENSAE – Paris.
